I am teaching myself the very basics of design using Affinity Designer - and I haven't been able to figure out how to create a single shape from multiple vectors. You can select multiple objects by holding the Shift key while clicking on them, or by clicking and dragging a selection around them. This is the point where the curves will be joined.
